Have you ever felt like your social media posts about your business are driving your friends away?
Have you ever noticed that the posts about your travels or your kids get tons of engagement and your business posts get none?
Here’s the truth. Many Network Marketers are following posting strategies that their companies teach but are unknowingly sabotaging their business on social media.
In this blog post I’ll be sharing 5 different warning signs that you may be repelling people, but most importantly I’m also going to share a way of posting that will actually help you get more Likes, Comments and RECRUITS from your social media.
Here’s the thing, most companies are still teaching simple posting strategies that just don’t work anymore. If you have found yourself doing any of the following you may just be turning people off and not attracting them to you.
1) Do you post pictures of yourself on social media drinking your company’s shakes? I did! ALL THE TIME!!!
2) Does your first message to a new friend include a link to your product or opportunity?
3) Do you write things in your posts like ” Looking for the next 5 leaders to join my team”
4) Does your Facebook profile consist primarily of before and after photos?
5) Do you engage in interactions online, with a hidden agenda, hoping to transition the topic to something that would get people interested in your opportunity, without caring about knowing the other person.
If you answered YES to any of these, and you are finding what you are doing is not working, then I’d say it’s time for a new improved strategy…
And don’t feel bad! I use to do these things too 🙂
Now don’t get confused here…I’m not saying that you should not be using social media. I’m also not saying you should go back to bugging friends and family, prospecting strangers at the mall etc.
No not at all.
What I am saying is that there is a better way to use social media for prospecting and recruiting.
In fact I recruited 43 people in my first two months of using this strategy by using a proven online strategy called attraction marketing.
But before I get into what attraction marketing is, I want to share with you one simple thing you can do immediately to start recruiting new people on social media.
Think about it. What’s the first thing you did when you were thinking about either buying your company’s product or joining the opportunity? You Googled it. Right?
Well that’s exactly what everyone else is going to do.
The unfortunate part is that Google will list the good and the bad ….and human nature dictates that we notice the bad first.
When people read the negative stuff they aren’t going to want to talk to you about your products or opportunity anymore. Network Marketing is a relationship business and you’ll be fighting an uphill battle from the get go if your prospect has already formed a negative opinion.
Also in some respects you’re are doing yourself a disservice by talking about your company too much. When we do this it makes us just look like an ordinary sales rep and sometimes people just don’t want to feel like their friends are trying to sell them stuff. You have way more to offer! Become a trusted advisor not just a distributor!
So how might you get your message out?
Create some curiosity about what you’re doing. People want to be in the know and when you don’t totally give away what you’re up to, people will ask! That will give you an opportunity to have a conversation with them and by asking some questions you will be able to determine whether your product or opportunity could help them.
Remember that people will join and buy from people that they know like and trust so don’t diminish your role as a friend and trusted advisor who can help people get what they want.
But here’s the most interesting thing.
I can’t tell you how relieved and at peace I felt, when I once again, was able to go out with my friends, visiting a family member’s home or be in a public place without having to think about prospecting anyone.
Just enjoying being normal again, was incredible, after years of being taught that “everyone was a prospect” and approaching every conversation with a hidden agenda, I was free!
That’s because it wasn’t until I STOPPED prospecting, that my business actually started growing!
At this point, you may be asking, “then how the heck did your business grow?”
Well before I answer that, I have to say that there are people who are very skilled prospectors and recruiters who completely disregard the issues I mentioned above.
They knowingly and without shame, approach every interaction with a stranger as a prospecting opportunity.
Getting rejected by prospects is no big deal, as long as some people say ‘yes.’
The problem with prospecting in general, as it’s normally taught, is that the mindset going in, is still about what YOU want people to do and about manipulating people into doing what you want them to do.
In other words, it’s about YOU, not them. I didn’t like that, but I still did it for a little while… until I did find a better way that….
You see the reason I was able to totally quit prospecting the way I had been doing is because with the help of some exceptional mentors, I discovered an online recruiting strategy which …..

I learned to passively generate leads, new customers and new reps – even when I was out having fun travelling with my daughter. ( That’s why I no longer have to prospect! I attract the right people to me.)
I use to spend hours posting all the wrong stuff on my social media, spamming or private messaging people, hoping that one of them would want to take a look at my product or opportunity. Now I run my business like a real business and legitimately get Facebook and other social media platforms like Instagram to actually help me attract the people who are most interested in what I have to offer, using their ads platform! (like real businesses do!)
In fact, every day lately, I’ve awoken to an email inbox full of notifications for new leads, new customers, new team members and commissions I earned while sleeping!
So earlier in this blog post I showed you a pic of me drinking my shake. I have to tell you I now cringe a little when I look at it. I kept posting that kind of stuff even though it didn’t work because I didn’t know what else to do.
So if you are wondering what Attraction Marketing is imagine what it feels like….
To wake up in the morning, open your email and there are 20-30 emails from people who want to talk to you about your products or joining your team, there are new sign up notifications and new commission notifications.
You know exactly who you need to call that day and you also know that when you do they will likely say yes because THEY ASKED YOU if they could take a look at joining your team.
These emails are not from your warm market, it’s not your mom or your sister or the guy you dated in high school.
These are people you have never met before and they want what you have.
That’s what attracting the right people does and that’s why it’s called Attraction Marketing!
